You bet homeownership rates are decreasing! We took thousands of people who used to be buyers and let them think they could be homeowners.

And our whole economy paid the price!

Now it is shifting back to more traditional levels.

Until we get these homes out of the bank’s inventory and into new homeowner’s hands, we will never really begin the recovery process.

We are all interested in cutting spending, but what do these cuts have to do with reducing the housing glut and creating jobs. It is clear from the data that housing starts proceed increases in employment by 6mo to 2 yrs. (see http://www.calculatedriskblog.com/2010/09/housing-starts-and-unemployment-rate.html )

Yes, I said that right; housing starts must increase BEFORE unemployment will improve!

This fact should be at the core of all legislation coming out of Washington but unfortunately this understanding of our economy have not reach our politicians yet.
